In this section we put together all kinds of information that we
find useful in our daily work. The material is a collection of
information from various sources including bulletin boards,
mailgroups, manuals, magazines, books, seminar handouts and
independent research.
This information is provided without warranty of any kind. There
is no further support available. Each individual must determine
the applicability and accuracy of this information to their
specific environment.
It is a better way. Create a script that will perform an Unattended
setup. We will not try to make the impression that is is easy done or
quickly done but is it possible to do and will consume less time than
trying to install all workstations manually.
There is also another similar task to do and that is the unattended
install of the Office products.
We think it should be easier to get the information we needed. This is the
reason why this page exists.
On the CD that comes with the book Yopu can find the
Windows/NT Setup Manager
that is used to create the answer file for unattended setup.
Another software to use is sysdiff. More information could be found
on the page about sysdiff.

Unattended Setup
If You have 100's of workstations or just a few more than 10 You don't
want to spend severals days shuffeling diskettes and CD-roms on all
these machines.
Why this document
When we should perform our first unattended install there was a lot
of information that was hard to get. Some information that is aviable
now was not at that time (January 1997). We hav to read manuals, search
the web, read books, phone our friends, etc.
How to do?
This is the setup:
There is a lot of workstations in a network enviroment. There is also a
server. The workstatiosn should be reinstalled with Windows/NT 4.0.

We strongly recommend starting with a purchase of
Windows/NT Workstation Resource Kit.
It contains a lot of information about how to to an some useful tools.
Observ:
