MIME types

Mime-types was originally defined in RFC 1341. After that a series of improvment has been made. Some of this can be found in RFC 1521 and RFC 1522.

There are also lists with other types. This is ourcollection of image types.

image jpeg jpg, jpeg, jpe JPEG is another image compression format. Although it is a popular and fairly common format JPEG is not supported internally by as many browsers as GIF. [RFC1521, Borenstein]

image x-xbitmap xbm X bitmap is a simple pixel-by-pixel image format. It is so simple that allmost all graphical browsers support it. By the simplicity it can be usefulll for creating small, dynamic images.
